Volunteer

Volunteering for HGNFS requires:

• the ability to lift up to 20 pounds
• bending and reaching to stock and straighten shelves
• weighing bags of groceries, assisting customers with carrying bags of groceries
• standing and sitting with exposure to varying temperatures
• working the entire shift unless prior notice

If you are unable to perform these tasks, please let the volunteer coordinator know and we will accommodate you accordingly.

As a minor, you will be required to have a guardian signature before we accept your application.

As a Hugo Good Neighbors Food Shelf Volunteer, I agree to abide by the following:

• I will treat all volunteers, clients, staff members, and guests with dignity and respect. I will not partake in any form of discrimination against volunteers, clients, staff members, or guests, in compliance with Hugo Good Neighbors Food shelf policies.
• I will be punctual and conscientious in the fulfillment of my duties. I will accept staff supervision and redirection as necessary during my shifts.
• I will maintain confidentiality of everything I see or hear at Hugo Good Neighbors Food Shelf. I will not discuss the condition or personal stories of any client with anyone other than staff members while at the Hugo Good Neighbors Food Shelf.
• I will turn all media inquiries over to the President of the Board through the Operations Coordinator.
• I agree to keep Hugo Good Neighbors Food Shelf a drug & tobacco free environment and nonviolent space.
• I will bring any questions or concerns to the appropriate staff members in a timely fashion. I will not let any conflict go unresolved.
• I will uphold the mission of Hugo Good Neighbors Food Shelf and follow the expectations and policies outlined in the Volunteer Handbook to the best of my ability. I understand that any violation will be taken into consideration and could result in my dismissal as a volunteer.
• I will abide by the policy that all food and items brought in, both purchased and donated, are for clients only.

I (named above) have received my copy of the Hugo Good Neighbor Food Shelf Volunteer Handbook. I have read it thoroughly, reviewed it with the Volunteer Coordinator and understand the provisions and agreements contained within.
